Reasons patients may need to consider veneer replacement

Porcelain veneers are strong and durable and can last many years with proper care; however, there are several reasons patients may seek the expertise of Dr. Mark A. Cruz for veneer replacement. Veneer treatment usually involves three appointments. The first step starts with diagnosis and tailoring a treatment plan. Dr. Cruz will carefully examine the mouth, teeth, gums, and current veneer to determine the right diagnosis and treatment. If a replacement veneer is recommended, a diagnostic model of the teeth is sent to a ceramist to create a replica of the desired smile. The ceramist will come to the dental office for a custom shade analysis to match the veneer to the surrounding teeth.

The procedure of replacing the veneer involves removal of remaining veneer structure and possible re-contouring of the tooth surface. Diagnostic images, along with an opposing model of the teeth are taken; then an impression is made of the prepped teeth. These images and impressions are sent to the ceramist.

It will take about two weeks for the veneer to be fabricated. Dr. Cruz will provide a temporary veneer until the fabricated veneer arrives. After arrival, Dr. Cruz will bond the veneer to the tooth and ensure it blends nicely with the smile. Veneers are natural looking and attractive smile enhancements.
