The office of Mark A. Cruz DDS, Inc., has a unique depth and breadth of expertise and onsite capabilities. With such extensive knowledge and technology, Dr. Cruz and his team provide comprehensive dental care solutions for our neighbors in and around Mission Viejo, California. As you can see from the following five types of services, we cater to a diverse range of needs and welcome the opportunity to partner with and support our patients’ health throughout their lives.
All patients can benefit from personalized guidance on home care and regular professional cleanings. With routine care, we can manage the build-up of disease-causing bacterial plaque. We can prevent or stop the progression of gum disease and tooth decay. Additionally, Dr. Peterson is a board-certified periodontist. You can benefit from his specialist expertise in diagnosing, treating, and managing gum disease. With tailored care and our deep-cleaning service, we can reverse the effects of early-stage gum disease and stop its progression, preventing further damage to the gums, bone, and teeth.
When teeth are damaged due to decay, gum disease, trauma, or other conditions, we can restore them with treatments such as dental fillings, inlays, onlays, and crowns. We prioritize conservative dentistry, which preserves as much healthy tissue as possible. For instance, dental inlays and onlays are a more conservative alternative to dental crowns. They fill in and replace areas of the tooth lost to damage, whereas a dental crown fits over the entire visible white part of the tooth.

When teeth cannot be restored, we offer many options for replacement. These options range from dental bridges to implants. Dental implants are versatile; they can replace one tooth, several teeth, or all the teeth in the upper or lower dental arch. Since the prosthetic teeth are held in place by implants, this treatment is designed to “mimic” the structure of natural teeth. This distinctive characteristic supports natural-looking results and a highly stable, natural feel. Plus, implants can last a lifetime with proper care and can help prevent or stop complications from bone loss by keeping the jawbone strong and healthy.
We appreciate that many patients with healthy teeth and gums can still be dissatisfied with their smiles. If your teeth have become stained or more yellow over time, we may recommend professional teeth whitening. Our dentists offer two options. Custom-fit whitening trays can be applied at home, while in-office whitening can deliver dramatic results in 2-3 hours. For patients with certain types of discoloration and other cosmetic concerns (such as chips or gaps between teeth), we may explore veneers. These coverings, made from ceramic/porcelain or composite resin, are applied and secured to the front surfaces of “imperfect” teeth. So, we use them to disguise things that you don’t like about your smile.
Solutions to support airway health and function are at the heart of our practice because airway problems have such a significant influence on your quality of life and contribute to so many health problems. Dr. Cruz and the team have considerable knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating airway deficiencies and dysfunction. Our range of treatments includes advanced oral appliances, myofunctional therapy, and airway-focused orthodontics.
This is just a glimpse of the many solutions we offer to support an attractive smile, a pain-free mouth, and the healthy breathing essential to your overall well-being.
